# Backflush and Pull From

> Where a backflushed material comes from. Each material line carries a Pull From storage unit; there is no separate strict-backflush switch.

A backflush consumes a job's materials when the work is completed, instead of an operator issuing each one by hand. Where a material comes from is set on its line in the bill of materials.

NOTE

**No strict-backflush setting**

Alforse has no company setting that forces each backflush to draw only from one storage unit, and none that stops completion when that storage unit is short. Settings → Items has Material IDs, Item IDs, BoM Explorer, Metric and Release Control cards only.

## Pull From on a material line

On a bill of materials line, in the item, the quote and the job alike, expand the line. For a line whose method type is not **Make to Order** the section is labelled **Pull From**. Pick the **Method Type**, the **Location** and the **Storage Unit** it is drawn from. A line with no storage unit shows the item's **Default Storage Unit**. For **Make to Order** lines the section is labelled **Finish To** and defaults to **WIP**.
